                    The Cigarette Girl is a short manga series written and illustrated by Masahiko Matsumoto. She originally made the Cigarette Girl a short mange series for several different magazines, but it was collected and published by  Seirinkogeisha. The character in the short stories are all beaten down by life to some degree. It makes the audience feel great sympathy to them. In my opinion, this kind of story that relates to our daily life has a greater impact on the audience because we feel so relatable. I personally do not prefer this kind of story because it makes me feel very depressed in a lot of ways because of the relatability. Especially when the characters are all beaten down by life, and on top of that they still suffer to some degree which it makes me feel strongly sympathetic to them.

                        Ayako is an anime made by Osamu Tezuka. It is about a poor girl been kept and locked up for nearly two dozen years because she is the evidence of her family's  terrible  incestuous  affairs. Her family does not want people to find out that, therefore they decide to do that to her. However, she eventually escapes the basement because of the great political and social changes of Japan. She grows up and seeks for connection of the outside world while terrified by the outside world. That causes the fall and tragedy of the Tenge family. I have a lot of empathy on Ayako, not only she gets locked up in the basement for years but the disconnect from the rest of the world and that's no different than the in prison however she has done nothing wrong. I can not think of how a person can still seek for connecting to the outside world. I feel sad when see Ayako fears the outside world while she still wants to look out. I admire her braveness. And I feel shame on her

                 I have never watched an anime that is about a historical character before. Most of the modern animes are about a character from the current time event and issue of a young generation. Even the ones that have some historical element in it are either fictional or somehow modifying the truth of the history. Miss Hokusai is a very special anime that is about the life of a real person Sarusuberi(Katsushika Ōi   ), which mostly known as Miss Hokusai because of her father. I see this is very special because I never think anime featuring a real-life person. I believe the story which based on a real-life character has a greater impact on the audience.
